Hey Hanna,

Thanks so much for the kind words, you made my month! I'm certainly glad to hear that the work made it home safely and is proudly displayed in the Williams' home. Here's a snap of you hating to love to hate the process:

<img src='http://toddmarrone.com/wp-content/uploads/retro/hannah.jpg' alt='Hannah' />

In answer to your question, my computer generated work typically starts our as a marker drawing. Then I scan the image and embelish it from there using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator.

Keep in touch!

May I ask what program or what tools you use to make your computer generated stuff?
I'm just curious.

Hey Mr. Marrone!

Remember me?
Regardless, I just felt very compelled to tell you that I really, really liked this article. Out of every tedious art project in every grade school art class I have taken so far, the self-portrait project has ALWAYS stuck out in my mind. I feel that this article really captured the essence of it. Everything said in it was perfect. Alot of people hated doing it and alot of people found it very entertaining. But they only hated it on the level a 14 year old self critical girl or an awkward 13 year old boy would. I loved to hate it and I hated to love it.
The picture I drew is actually hanging (framed) in my house now, and apparently my parents think it’s the greatest thing in the world. Looking back on it I really don’t like anything about it, but believe it or not that project and your entire class really impacted me a lot.
And I hope that as an art teacher at a middle school full of unruly students, you can hear that and have it mean something. Because as a 15 year old about to enter sophomore year at LM, I can say that your class really meant a lot to me.

On a side note:
I don’t know if you remember, but I used a lot of crosshatching on my piece.
I’ve been using that method persistently since then. XD
