believe it will speak to many of the paths our conversation took Monday night—remember while listening, this is a scientist speaking, who has researched this subject and in this clip has been asked to explain his findings in a political context and has used his conclusions to explain how they apply in a specific context — but the science is not limited to the political.

…at first i thought a belief is a state where intended truth follows. but there is another type of belief. for example: i believe the troops should go forward. here the belief is not seeking truth but rather an intention–a result or course of action with an intended result. so one could have a belief which intends a result. in light of this is becomes more evident contradictory beliefs may be held at the same time. as one may be conflicted that various courses of action may produce the same result..
