The Ghosticorns ComethPosted by: Todd Marrone in Announcements, Digital Media, Dry Media
This magazine advertisement marks the long-awaited marriage of two of my pet projects. Ghosticorn Apparel and Formation Skateboards will soon be releasing a series of decks and tees sporting the featured graphic. Spectrum Board Shop and Ghosticorn Apparel recently joined forces in an effort to ornament the midsection of local skaters with this little fella.
In an effort to drum up insight, feedback and criticism, I invited all newsletter subscribers to participate in an informal commenting competition during the month of July. The response was overwhelming, thanks to everyone who wittingly (or unwittingly) participated. Well, the month is six days stale and results are in: The Most Insightful Comment Award Goes to: The “MAC” (Most Active Commenter) Award Goes to: The ferociously beautiful Philly Roller Girls invited me to design a poster for an upcoming roller derby bout. How could I say no?
My trusty scissors and I joined forces to create this spiffy, limited-edition, Ghosticorn tee graphic commemorating our appearance at the East Coast Roller Derby Extravaganza.
During a recent visit to a Philadelphia Craft Festival, I couldn’t help but notice the inordinate number of items featuring owls or octopi. Since they seem to be the animal darlings of the independent craft world, I whipped up this hybrid for Ghosticorn Apparel.
I came across this circa 1996 doodle while paging through an old sketchbook. I thought that the character was too deliciously condescending and smug to go to waste so I turned him into a Ghosticorn tee design. It’s always nice to give younger me the opportunity to collaborate with older me. |
