This is your brain on art. Any questions?
I borrowed the center character from a former student’s doodle. I borrowed the drawing style from Jon Burgerman, Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring and the Ancient Mayans. I borrowed the palette and crown from a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting. I borrowed the title from Maurice Sendeck. Everything is due back in two weeks. A few weeks ago, my young mural collaborator, Ben, created a flurry of doodles. We then selected some of those doodles and dropped them into a rough composition. Next, we refined and tightened the composition and decided what colors will go where. Next stop, basement wall… stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion.
I’ve recently embarked upon a mural collaboration with my young pal, Ben Feldman. So far, we’ve co-doodled and co-color-selected. Soon, we’ll be co-ruining-their-basement-carpet.
Or is it who? Or is it whom? Whatever.
Everyone’s favorite book, turned animated film, turned Broadway musical, turned Jr. version musical is now a hit tee shirt.
A student doodled this when he should have been working. I digitized and colorized it when I should have been working. I think it works.
