My son made a few random shapes. I made the shapes into monsters. He made the monsters into art. I made the art into a pun.

I made a kid and I made a bear. One colored in the other.
My almost-3-year-old son and I almost collaborated on this piece without getting paint and oil stick almost all over the basement. Almost. Visitors have recently been cyber-gushing over the Father’s Day gift that I presented my pop. While the kind words are much appreciated, that was (at best) the second greatest Father’s Day gift to change hands in our family. My son, with the help of a crack team of studio assistants, created a painting for me. At five months old, he is already a better gift-giver and painter than I am.
The Mrs. and I recently staged, shot and assembled this little photo diptych as a Father’s Day gift for my dad. As you may have guessed, I’m playing the part of infant in the upper photo and proud papa in the lower photo. Perhaps someday Rocco will have a son, couch and camera of his own to keep up the tradition. |
